Swept away, you stole my thoughts Whispers hold me, fascinated with boredom Trouble in these fevered rooms I surrender, surrender wonder I can see your face The only one in the empty crowd I can see your face The only one in the empty crowd Children of gold, philistines of fame Makes no difference to them, everything they claim Apathetic idols, I surrender Surrender wonder I can see your face The only one in the empty crowd I can see your face The only one in the empty crowd Watch the lights go away The lights go away
2.
When I walk, I walk alone Deserted heart towards an empty throne Traveled so far, to be with you Without shade, without night Want you to take me to shapeless lands Away from guilt, my beloved shame Gather me up in your arms and take away from here Such a sweet thing, such a sweet thing To live in your life Such a sweet thing, such a sweet thing To lie by your side Journey so long, to see you To watch you blush to watch you wilt Want you to take me to shapeless lands Away from guilt, my beloved shame Gather me up in your arms and take me away from here Such a sweet thing, such a sweet thing To live in your life Such a sweet thing, such a sweet thing To lie by your side Such a sweet thing, such a sweet thing Such a sweet thing, such a sweet thing To live in your life Such a sweet thing Such a sweet thing, such a sweet thing To lie by your side

Thin Skies 03:22
The empty road, endlessly ahead I drive forever into a dying light When I hear, the wild and broken sounds That's how I'll know I'm all the way down now I live on the other side I live on the other side from you (So far away) How does it end? Would you like to see? It's only me in the mirror looking back Hands slip we drift, tomorrow's gone That's how I'll know I'm all the way down now I live on the other side I live on the other side from you (So far away)
4.
If you follow me around Make you better Make me awful Get off the floor What a wonderful girl Make me happy Make me feel, so alone. Adorable mess, did they get you again? I can see those tears in your eyes They want to fix you, break you, make you theirs, despite what you want Can you help me find All the hidden things inside? You say you’re lost alone And you’re coming apart You’re the rarest type, everyone wants but no one would save. Can you help me find All the hidden things inside?
5.
Parallel 03:58
Dreamed of you, believed you were never real I didn’t know, you could hurt, you could feel Never looked for me In these parallel lives I guess I thought, you would want to say goodbye I don’t want you to go Don’t look back On those lonely nights I don’t want you to go Don’t look back On those lonely nights I don’t want you to go Don’t look back On those lonely nights I don’t want you to go
6.
Just when things were looking up Tired themes start turning up, again These streets are young for someone else Why do I come here? Always ends up the same. What does it feel like? It feels like hell What does it feel like? It feels like hell A long time ago, just like yesterday I danced with you, in those dark little rooms Now the future’s the past, I blew my chance Why do I come here? Always ends up the same. What does it feel like? It feels like hell What does it feel like? It feels like hell If that’s what you want
7.
Brouhaha 03:28
Were you up to something? Caged and pacing Back and forth, back and forth Your body and head Got to get them together, Got to get us together Cursed and waiting Take it back, take it back Our conversations to each other Gonna do it right You got two black eyes You got two blacks eyes, boy They match your clothes They match your taste Your head is full, visions Building and building Come closer listen Thinking it over, get your life in motion Gotta save yourself, gotta save yourself There's nothing in this place I’m on the edge, I’m on the edge We’ve got to go, we’re here too long Gotta have your angle, gotta have your angle You got two black eyes You got two blacks eyes, boy They match your clothes They match your taste
8.
New Lines 03:24
You're home, the lights are off Playing the day over and over again Pulling a string just to find yourself See the child The bitter arc You cry out Lying there falling to your fate Talking to yourself, over and over again When it stops, is the silence enough? See the child The bitter arc You cry out
9.
Funny how things Get erased No mercy no meaning Just our solitary thoughts A moment alone In your embrace Reminds me of places Even stars can drown I dream here Come and find me

about

Thin Skies, Bootblacks' first album for Artoffact Records, zooms forward where Fragments left off. The nine songs combine a driving, dancefloor pulse with soulful, melodic post-punk, yielding results that are positively anthemic.

Produced by Jason Corbett of Artoffact labelmates ACTORS, Thin Skies evokes scenes of dark days and reckless nights in the urban jungle – a marriage of post-punk emotion and clubland sweat. Frontman Panther Almqvist's brooding voice captivates as it veers from detached cool to deep vulnerability. Guitarist Alli Gorman's hard jangle "channels the trademark delay techniques of [U2's] The Edge," in the words of Post-Punk. Keyboardist Barrett Hiatt's arpeggiated synths are the life force pushing the songs relentlessly forward, as Larry Gorman bashes a mix of acoustic and electronic drums with power and perfection. Backing vocals come courtesy of Shannon Hemmett (ACTORS) and Kennedy Ashlyn (SRSQ, Them Are Us Too).

Bootblacks' hometown of New York City is integral to Thin Skies' sound. The band's name itself is said to be derived from novelist William Burroughs’ description of the dark underbelly of glitzy NYC. Almqvist states: "It's an energetic city and people have all the reasons in the world not to give you the time of day. I think our music has been shaped by that in many ways."
